Overview

Purpose: Takes the output from the Job Description Analyzer and maps your experience to what they're really hiring for. Turns 45-minute tailoring sessions into 10 minutes.

When to use: After running the JD Analyzer, before submitting any application.

Time investment: 2-3 minutes to set up, 1-2 minutes for AI to analyze

Prerequisite: Run the Job Description Analyzer first. This prompt needs that output to work.

How to Use

  1. Run the JD Analyzer first — You need the requirements and "problems to solve" output
  2. Paste the analysis summary — Copy the key requirements and problems into the prompt
  3. Add your current resume bullets — Paste your master resume (all bullets, not pre-filtered)
  4. Run in any frontier reasoning model — GPT-4o, Claude Opus/Sonnet, Gemini 2.0 Pro, or equivalent
  5. Apply the recommendations — Use the relevance scores to prioritize, rewrites to strengthen

Best Results With: Tested primarily with Claude Opus/Sonnet and GPT-4o. Claude tends to produce more conservative rewrites (closer to your voice); GPT-4o tends to be more aggressive with optimization. Use whichever matches your preference.

Pro Tip: Keep a Master Resume

Maintain one "master" resume with ALL your bullets—even ones you rarely use. This prompt works best when it can see everything and recommend what to cut vs. feature for each specific role.

Save tailored versions with the company name (e.g., Resume_OpenAI_2026-01.pdf) so you can track which versions get callbacks.

Chain It: JD Analyzer → Resume Tailoring → Cover Letter

The gaps identified in this prompt become the focus of your cover letter. If the prompt says "No formal enablement title, address in cover letter," that's your opening paragraph.

The Prompt

## Context
I'm tailoring my resume for a specific role. I've already analyzed the job description using a structured framework. Here's what I found:

## JD Analysis Summary
[PASTE KEY REQUIREMENTS AND PROBLEMS TO SOLVE FROM JD ANALYZER]

Example format:
- Explicit requirements: 5+ years sales enablement, CRM experience, playbook creation
- Implicit requirements: influence without authority, prove ROI, handle ambiguity
- Problems to solve: scaling sales team, inconsistent messaging, long ramp times
- My fit rating: Strong / Moderate / Stretch

## My Current Resume Bullets
[PASTE YOUR MASTER RESUME BULLETS HERE]

## Task
For each of my bullets:
1. **Relevance Score (1-5)** — How well does this address what they're hiring for?
2. **Rewrite Suggestion** — Strengthen the connection to their needs. Keep it concise, quantified where possible.
3. **Positioning Note** — Should this be prominent, secondary, or cut for this application?

Then provide:
- **Gaps:** What requirements do my bullets NOT address? For each gap, suggest how to handle it (cover letter, interview talking point, or acknowledge as growth area).
- **Missing Bullets:** Any experience I likely have that I should add for this role?
- **Recommended Order:** Which 5-7 bullets should be most prominent for this specific application?
- **ATS Keyword Check:** List high-relevance keywords from the JD that are missing from my bullets. For each, suggest where to naturally incorporate it (which bullet, what phrasing) so ATS parsers pick it up without keyword-stuffing.

## Constraints
- No fluff or exaggeration—keep it factual
- Preserve my voice (direct, evidence-based)
- Each bullet should be ≤2 lines
- Quantify impact where possible (%, $, time saved)
